One from the De Underground label that was associated with the shop of the same name in East London. There were hundreds of tunes that came out of here sprawled across a huge number of labels, many confusingly labelled with catalogue numbers that are impossible to follow.
Some of the releases don’t quite hit the mark but the others more than make up for that with some true underground classics from the bleepy hardcore of the Reel 2 Reel label through to the breakbeat stuff on Oddball, U No Dat and In Touch which also went on to release a few killer jungle tunes as well.
Here Swan-E lays down a slightly out of the ordinary hardcore track which is less chipmunks and cheesy pianos and more a relaxed vocal sample and smooth piano line and it works really well. He would go on to set up several labels in the future, most notably Collusion which I think he ran with Ellis Dee. As far as I’m aware he’s still involved in D&B and is releasing music here and there.
