Alexander, head honcho at Organic, was kind enough to whip up a guest mix for Drumtrip, taking us through the myriad of styles prominent in in the D&B scene around 1996.
Jungle was dead, and Drum & Bass as we know it was in full flow.
A few words from the man himself…
The mix went through several versions before it got to a place where I was happy with it. I’ve tried to keep it varied and hopefully include a few gems that people are less familiar with.
Originally I was going to go down the whole ’93-’95 Jungle route but eventually decided it would be more interesting to sit a bit later, mainly in ’96.
A good amount of the tunes are definitely of their time, however some of them still feel like music from the future to me
