One of these however (and the feature of this post) was the anthem Demon Seed.

I first heard it on DJ DB’s excellent “Shades of Technology” mix cd and was instantly hooked on how such a subtle track, akin to “Shadow Boxing”, can be so simple yet so effective. The way the track evolves is key with new elements constantly introduced each one adding to the energy of the track. I also love the sample from Apocolaypse Now at the beginning: “We’ll come in low out of the rising sun and about a mile out we’ll put on the music”.

There have been numerous remixes over the years with unofficial remixes from Ben Sage and Bungle and official ones by SPY and the Insiders. None of these versions come close to the original though for me.

Though he only released 7 Singes/Ep’s and the seminal album Balance of the Force he had a brief but lasting impact on the Jungle/Drum and Bass scene.

Throughout his time as Boymerang he was in high demand for remixes. The remix of MLO’s – New Generation is in my opinion one of his best. With lush synths and a lovely amen workout dropping at around the 3.40 mark this is exactly my kind of Jungle.

It can be picked up pretty cheaply on Discogs with a T Power remix of MLO – New Garden on the flip.

Perfect listening material for a Sunday.

Normally when an artist remixes a track they either play it safe and keep it close to the original or go for the riskier option of producing their own interpretation of the track. In Doc Scott’s case he chose the latter and with great effect produced this deep jungle classic.

Keeping pretty much only the “Champion Sound” sample taken from 400 Blows – Champion Sound the track drifts along with lush synths, deep bass and intricate beats. A truly great remix from the legend that is Doc Scott.

This remix however is the ultra rare one sided etched promo copy released exclusively on Section 5 Records in limited numbers.
Reportedly only sent to key dnb djs and with limited distribution in record shops this retails at a hefty price tag on discogs if you can lay your hands on a copy.

This particular remix is quite subtle compared to some of the other remixes retaining all the elements of the original, noticeably focusing on the bassline and flute sampled from Bob James – “Westchester Lady” whilst adding a few other minor elements.

This is probably my favourite version of Circles. I could listen to this tune all day and never get tired of it.

As the founder and creative head of Liquid Sky Music and Liquid Sky D-Sign, he has been responsible for some of the most forward-thinking music and clothing to emerge from the New York City underground.
He started releasing jungle in 1994 and the focus of this post is the T-Power remix of his second release titled the Abducted EP.

Released in 1995 on Jungle Sky Records (a subsidiary of Liquid Sky Records) featuring a great bass line, piano samples and chopped up vocals courtesy of MC Det it is in my opinion one of T Powers best remixes.

You can purchase the vinyl from £2.50 on discogs worth it just for this remix. This remix can also be found on quite a few compilations from around the time and was also on T Powers – Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind Chronology CD.

Ruffin up the ride.

The excellent use of a sample from the intro of Lonnie Liston Smith & The Cosmic Echoes – Between Here And There combined with the use of effects gives the tune a jazzy/space-age feel to it.

The vinyl release had the equally good “Solar System” on the flip and can be bought for the bargain price of £0.86p on discogs! Both of these tracks were caned by LTJ Bukem at the time with The Instrumental featuring in his 1995 BBC Radio 1 essential mix.

You can also find this track in Laws excellent “Deep Jungle Volume 4” mix.

The perfect track to drift away to…
