great post. i’ve always thought it was a shame that squarepusher didnt get more recognition inside the dnb community but he was always just too next level and never cared about fitting inside boxes (or squares?) But yeah, Tundra is a great tune for sure. One of my other favorites from him is Ultravisitor. It’s fast and complex and maniacal and then it falls apart into these frozen glowing amen stalactites that echo off into a cavernous expanse at the end. great jazzy riffage going on too. just top notch sqrpshr .

Only just come across your drumtrip blog/forum – very nice indeed – articulate, passionate and, for me most importantly, not trying to show off knowledge, rather share it with others.
So, you asked for readers favourite squarepusher – well, this is one of my highlights from him. maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but if you have a jazz disposition or like people who were influenced by jazz, like Jenkinson and Mr Parkes, lemon D, then this is an essential piece of vinyl- or perhaps sound collage would be a more apt description. either way, be pared to be jazzed off the tracks.

Probably the best tune from the LP. We were notorious for dropping this kinda stuff into sets back in the day… The drill n bass thing came around at precisely the wrong time to gain a foothold into the scene – not that it was ever likely, but by ’96 diversity in the scene was really starting to drop off.
