TOTD: Antix – X-Rated

Tune of the day provided by regular reader Melvin

R-210991-1081798658The seminal label Production House needs no introduction, thanks to the likes of Baby D’s ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy‘ and Acen’s “Trip II The Moon” they were a huge force in the underground circuit, whilst simultaneously achieving success in the top 40.

Head honcho of Production House Phil Fearon clearly had not only a good ear for anthems, but for amen heavy, tear out jungle stompers too. Which lead him to pick up this killer cut from Antix (AKA DJ Devine & Essence) aptly named X Rated‘ due to it’s exotic female vocal snippets alongside celestial synths and deep rumbling basslines.

Released in ’95 with its AA side ‘45 Soundboy‘ at the height of jungle’s popularity, this relatively unknown gem represents everything I love and continue to love about jungle.
